| Description: | Historic St. Mary’s Church Newport celebrates the unveiling and premiere performance of the newly refurbished Casavant op 2463 pipe organ in a two day festival that begins with a lecture-recital “The Art of Organ Restoration and the Role of the Pipe Organ in the Catholic Church†presented by guest speaker Simon Couture, Vice President and Tonal Director of Casavant Freres, with the premiere performance of the newly refurbished pipe organ, doors open at 1:30 pm, reception follows, choral Masses featuring members of St. Mary's Parish Choir, Youth Choir, and guest singers with the organ occur at 5:15 pm and on Sunday June 4 at 9:30 am with the Youth Choir and 11 am with the Parish Choir, followed by a 4 pm organ concert (Sunday June 4) sponsored by the American Guild of Organists and featuring Gigi Mitchell Velasco, Roger Castellani, Peter Krasinski, and Cody Mead performing on the restored instrument, St. Mary’s Church, 12 William Street, Newport, RI |
